ABOUT US
DeCantillon Films is an independent film production company based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. The Managing Director of the company is film director, Timothy Reynard, who formed the company in 2005 as tReynard Pictures. The company was also previously known as TVR Productions and Valiant Pictures however legal disputes forced a name change to DeCantillon Films.

The name of the company came about due to Timothy's family history. One of Timothy's ancestors was a wealthy surgeon, living in a large castle in Ireland in the 1700s. Napoleon heard of this man, Cantillon, and shipped him to France to become his personal surgeon. Years later, Napoleon sent Cantillon to London to make an attempt on the Duke of Wellington's life. Cantillon failed, but on his return to France was knighted by King Louis VI, thus becoming Chevalier de Cantillon. The 'de' stuck and was passed down through generations, but it ended with Timothy's great grandmother who was an only child and took her husband's surname when she married. To restore his family's name, Timothy adopted the surname for his production company in 2007.

Since its formation, DeCantillon Films has produced five films, two features, "Denied" (produced: 2006-08, released: 2008), "The Only One Who Knows You're Afraid" (produced: 2010-11, released: 2011) and three shorts, "Four Times" (produced: 2008-09, released: 2009), "Slow Down the Time" (produced 2010-11, released: 2011) and "Thunder From Her Heart" (produced 2009-11, released: 2011).

The company pride themselves at being a big supporter of independent and student films and its usual crew consists of some of the most talented and upcoming film students from across the country. Timothy is currently forging a Scorsese-De Niro style partnership with several of his actors, with Austin Hardiman and Kayleigh Lawrence both having appeared in three DeCantillon Films pictures. The company also reguarly work with a number of film professionals who have seen potential in the filmmakers, including screenwriter Michael Chaplin ("Monarch of the Glen", "Foyle's War"), dialogue coach Clifford De Spenser ("Saving Private Ryan", "The Constant Gardener", "Clash of the Titans") and Jeremy Clarkson's historian, James G. Dorrian.

DeCantillon's movies have been critically acclaimed and have gained nationwide publicity, including reviews in The Times and The Guardian and having been viewed by big names in the industry such as Ken Russell and Hugo Heppell. DeCantillon Films next project will be "Lie the Die Be Cast", a psychological drama set in Greece and filmed in the Andalucia region of Spain in Autumn 2012.
